FIRST VISIT
Our initial introductory exam is complimentary for patients of all ages! We are always excited to meet new patients and consider their first visit a very special one! Upon arrival, our receptionist will greet you and take you on a tour of the office, where you will see Dr. Shaw and his team in action. You will then meet with our treatment coordinator and Dr. Shaw in the consultation room. Your initial appointment will consist of a thorough examination and discussion of potential treatment options. This important 45 minute visit will give us insight into your orthodontic needs, and we will be able to address the following questions:
- Is there a condition that orthodontics can address?
- Is treatment needed now or should treatment be delayed until appropriate growth, tooth eruption or other factors have occurred?
- What treatment procedures & options could be used to correct the problem?
- Do any permanent teeth need to be removed?
- How long will treatment take?
- What is the estimated orthodontic treatment fee?
- What is my expected insurance benefit?
- What are my payment options?
Moving Forward
While we can often answer these general questions about treatment during the initial examination, we will address specific areas after careful analysis of "diagnostic records" which include:
- Digital X-rays (Panoramic and Headfilm)
- Digital facial and intra-oral photographs of your teeth, smile, profile and bite
- Study models of the teeth
We know your time is valuable, so in many cases we can expedite treatment, if indicated, by obtaining some or all of the above records at your initial exam. Following that, we will schedule a consultation visit to discuss Dr. Shaw's treatment recommendations, options, time frames and financial arrangements.
Thorough, detailed analysis of the records and careful planning lead to superior results in the shortest possible time!
